YouTube Music Key

If you listen to a lot of music on YouTube you’ll know that advertisements can become quite annoying. This is fair enough, as that’s what’s paying for the video you’re watching. Then there’s the drawback of needing a good Internet connection to stream the video, which is fine at home but can quickly become a real data drain on a mobile device. YouTube Music Key looks set to fix both of these issues, while also adding a wealth of extra music into the deal.

As YouTube Music Key is a subscription service, those distracting ads will be a thing of the past. Now whenever you tap on the video in question you’ll be taken directly to it without the need to endure thirty seconds of some random product placement.

Microsoft Word 2016

Microsoft released the final version of Office 2016 today, a major update for the enterprise and a big step in the right direction. It’s an incredibly powerful suite that hits on all of the right touch-points. There is now a co-authoring feature in Word where you can collaborate on a document in real-time and see what someone else is typing. The desktop suites can now use multi-factor authentication for better security. And, there’s a host of new features that are designed to make you more productive.

AMD’s 2016 Polaris Graphics

2016 should see the arrival of two new generations of GPU architecture. Nvidia has Pascal, which the company claims could be ten times faster that of its predecessor, although Nvidia also admitted that this figure was reached using ‘CEO math’, so should be taken with a pinch of salt.

To rival this AMD has announced its own Polaris architecture.

At the moment AMD is saying ‘mid 2016’ for a release date, but there are no product details available as yet. AMD will surely follow in the footsteps of its previous generation, with a wide range of graphics cards such as the Radeon R5 which is under £50, up to more powerful beasts such as the Radeon R9 Fury X which available on Amazon for a little under £500.

Windows 10 New Feature

One of the biggest new developments in the Windows 10 story is that it will be completely free to upgrade.

As we knew prior to the January briefing, Windows 10 will mark the return of the much loved Start Menu. In the latest build shown, it has some updated graphics and can optionally go full-screen. Half of the menu looks pretty much like it did in Windows 7 but there’s the obvious addition of Live Tiles. Cortana is also one of the headline features of Windows 10, at least as far as Microsoft is concerned. The digital assistant, who rivals Siri and Google Now, has been available on Windows Phone for a while will come to PCs and tablets. And many other things.
